What Laptop?

Im looking to buy a really powerful and good looking laptop. I run a lot
of big programs at once and download a lot of music.

Can you point me towards a very powerful laptop that will do what I
want?

Budget is about a grand.

That's good. But you need to be more specific. What programs? How
is the computer be going to be used, e.g., number-crunching whilst
converting downloaded music or general office functions? What is
the trade-off point, e.g., good-looking color or absolute power?
Just what models do you have in mind at this time?

Why ask HERE? What laptop you get is a matter of personal preference.
Do your own research......or.............

Ask elsewhere

1. Search the net for all websites that sell laptops, like NewEgg.com and Buy.com.
2. Concentrate only on models that have a price tag of $1000.
3. Buy the one that you consider to be 'good looking'.

Wasn't that easy?

PS - Avoid VISTA, if you want speed!

Not sure why the look is on the list, but that's up to you.

Don't make the HD size a necessity, as external drives are both great
for backup and great for additional storage. And they are getting
cheap. Keep the search more into speed, memory, power to suit your
other needs.
I put blue tooth in mine as an option that I thought was worth the
money. I didn't want a wireless mouse to require one of those dongles
hanging out to break off. That was just my priority.
