Epson Perfection 4180 Scanner ... won't recognize in

Wow! Epson finally got tired of my problem and abandon me. My 4180 drivers
install along with the 'EpsonScan V2.65' package OK. XP recognizes the
scanner. I had this scanner working on the same machine for 3 years then had
to refresh the HD and reloaded XP and updated to SP2 via MS online. Now when
the scanner software attempts to initialize the hardware to scan the program
fails. Numerous updated versions and attempts at gaining access has failed. I
can only assume there is a failure with the twain drivers and XP SP2. Oh yes,
before I attempt to use EpsonScan the first time, when I use the generic
panel I can scan within Adobe 7.0 PDF Writer OK. As soon as I attempt
EpsonScan I loose ALL accessibility until I remove and reload the Epson
drivers and software suite again.
