Have been running a Fantom 80gb external hard on my desktop with Windows XP
Service Pack 2 for two years with no problem. This drive is my backup.
Recently purchased a HP Pavilion with Vista. Have wireless network to
desktop. Used a backup program, Backup Pro to backup files from the HP to the
external hard drive through the network. It workd a few times. Then suddenly
I cannot access the hard drive from either machine.
I also noticed in Windows Explorer the name for the hard drive changed from
nfts (h

to Local Disk (H

. Windows explorer now shows an external drive
(g

which I do not have. If I click on it, I'm prompted to insert a disc????
Wehn I do a properties check on the external hard drive h, the graphic shows
the disk full, but shows "0" for values.
I tried formatting, which seems to run, but only ends in an error message
that Windows could not complete the format. Is the disk bad? I tend to
believe an OS setting(s) but don't have clue as to how to poceed. Any help
would be gratly appeciated. Thanks, Dennis D
