New hard drive install
I am upgrading to a 500G hard drive and I have the original XP release cd/dvd
rom, before SR 1. Is there ANY way to get past the partition limitation of
137G without giving Bill even more of my money?? A patch or something so that
I can install a single 500G drive as my master?

There is no way to utilize all of the hard drive space with your XP RTM gold
install disk. However, slipstreaming it with Service Pack 2 is extremely
easy and then you can install with that new disk you create.

How to slipstream sp2 into XP

RE: New hard drive install
With xp no new software is needed for that.Simply set the new hd to slave on
same IDE cable to current C: (master),open xp with old hd,go to run, type:
diskmgmt.msc Format the new hd.Once thru,close out msc,go to run,type:
XCOPY C:\*.* D:\ /c/h/e/k/r Agree to all in the DOS window, once its thru,
youre new hd is ready to be set as master, all of old C: is on new. Also,D:
being
the new hd letter,if asigned diffrent letter, then use that one instead..Yes
the
whole hd will be recognized...
