Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0
On Christmas day I had a computer crash and the results of which I had
to install a new power supply and hard drive. After reinstalling
Windows XP home edition and all the updates plus all my programs a
problem has arisen with my Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0.

Is long as I'm using the mouse I have no problems but if I leave the
computer idle the mouse sometimes locks up and won't move. I thought
maybe it was because I had my hard drive shut down set at 20 minutes
but when I change that setting to "Never" it's still would shut down.
The only way that I can unfreeze it is to do a shut down. I have also
check drivers to no avail.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated
..

Mouse connected to either a PS/2 mouse port or USB port?

If USB ports, you might have to turn of the option on thr USB port
which let XP to the USB ports power off when idle.

All of the USB ports were checked (the turn off option) so I unchecked
them and it will be a wait-and-see situation.

Thank you for the heads up.

Go to "System Properties", "Hardware", "Device Manager", expand the
Universal Serial Bus Controllers and go to properties on each USB hub.
Open "Power Management" and uncheck the box "Allow the computer to
turn off this device to save power"

Do this to each USB hub.

I have two USB PCI cards because the USB online motherboard only
supports 1.0 speed and with the cards I can get a 2.0 speed

I have not lost the use of my USB mouse since I've done this.

I hope this helps
