Repeating what?
Why aren't you running WinXP SP2 with all post-SP2 updates installed?

Re: after upgrading from Win 2k SP4 to Win Xp SP1 most services are not starting
Crossposted to WinXP New Users newsgroup.
You've not posted about this problem in any WinXP-specific newsgroups before
this AFAIK.
Is this machine currently fully patched at Windows Update?
What Services aren't starting? Was this a problem prior to the upgrade to
WinXP SP2? Were you having any other unresolvable problems prior to
upgrading (e.g., IE crashes; searches being hijacked; unwanted pop-ups)?
What anti-virus application is installed? What firewall are you using?
[microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support newsgroup is intended for
issues involving Start | Help & Support (literally)]

Re: after upgrading from Win 2k SP4 to Win Xp SP1 most services arenot starting
The Win2k SP4 had no problems soild as a rock ( No crashes no Spy ware
no Virus). I installed Win XP SP1 first because that is what I had,
Then SP2. The reason why I noticed that most service were not running
when I notice that my Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition was
disabled. I've seen this problem before but not to this extent. It
would be easier to list the services that are "STARTED" RPC, Plug &
Play and Windows Audio that's it. The others that are automatic are
not started!! If I start them manually they will start

Re: after upgrading from Win 2k SP4 to Win Xp SP1 most services are not starting
Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315
Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.
Checking for/Help with Hijackware

http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware
When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
( http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://castlecops.com/forum67.html,
http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or other appropriate forums for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**
If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Re: after upgrading from Win 2k SP4 to Win Xp SP1 most services are not starting
Michael
Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.
You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.
A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.
