playing videos
it started with WMP10 and now seems to affect all similar applications:
when attempting to play a video, the sound track proceeds, but the video
stops on the first frame. When I stop the program, my whole system halts
(pressing the 'num lock' key shows no response), forcing me to hit the reset
button to reboot. I first tried removing then reinstalling WMP10, upgraded
to WMP11, with similar results. Other players (Real Alternative, etc) are
similarly affected.
I am running an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ with 1GB RAM
the only change to my system was an upgrade of the video card to ATI Radeon
7000 with 64MB VRAM.
