UNABLE to login to websites after cancelled Disc Clean II
I neglected to mention...I was using IE ver 7. but I did not mention tha I not
only lost my ability to connect to any websites, I lost
the tabs. and when I tried your suggestion there was no "Delete Browser
History"
in the "Tools" tab. but the version still shows: Version: 7.0.5730.11

It has the look of an older version.

I don't understand what you are saying or asking? This is my first time
using this format. I did answer the Yes/No buttons on the bottom of the page.

I will answer as best I can.

RE: UNABLE to login to websites after cancelled Disc Clean II

I don't mean by answer, is answering Yes/Or NO on the page!. I mean answer
the help if you think what they given you of a help or they can think of
another solution or give the chance for another helper to give you the right
fix, but if you didn't report back nobody will know if you serious or the
solution been given worked or not. Resulting in reducing the chances of help
you will get.
Hope this was clear and understood
Good luck

RE: UNABLE to login to websites after cancelled Disc Clean II
This is the problem is received from microsoft:
MS07-016 - addresses a vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer (KB928090)

This is the link:
http://www.microsoft.com/protect/com...ns/200702.mspx

The link describes how to get the updates, but my issue is I am not able to
connect.
Therein lies the problem...How do I connect in order to upgrade with the
hope of resolving the problem?

RE: UNABLE to login to websites after cancelled Disc Clean II

Hi KJB,
I don't know how you come to a conclusion that this is your issue, is the
browser as we started talking about the Disk cleanup .
Okay, try to run Disk cleanup in Safe Mode then Reboot your machine in
Normal mode and perform these steps:
1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .

Click on General Tab (1st Tab on the left) and you will see a Button called
[ Clear History ..] click on it to clear your History caches, then click on
[Delete Files..] to delete Internet Files created over the time, click on [
Delete Cookies...] to delete your cookies left by visiting websites.

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.

Scan for malware from here, you can download this App from the same Computer
you composed this message from and download on Removable storage/Flash
drive/CD/DVD:
SuperAntispyware - Free
http://www.superantispyware.com/supe...freevspro.html

Run a Complete scan then Open a run command by clicking on Start >> Run in
the text box type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [Ok]
netsh winsock reset click [OK]
Please Note the space between the Slash(/) and the rest of the command like
this:
ipconfig_/flushdns, where ( _ ) is the space by the spacebar on your
keyboard.
Reboot your machine, are you able to connect to the Internet?, also make
sure that the browser not checked to work OFFLINE!.

What hardware are you using to connect to the internet, is it a Modem or
Modem/Router, try Turning it OFF for a Minute at the same time also Shut down
your machine.
Then Turn the Modem/Router ON and wait for a Minute then turn the Machine ON
and try the connection.

What security software are you using?, did you tried to Restore the System
to an earlier date when things were working Okay?.
To restore the system do this:
Click Start >> All programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> System Restore.
On the Calender select a week before this or three days.
HTH.

RE: UNABLE to login to websites after cancelled Disc Clean II
Hi nass,

I wanted to identify the starting place of the issue and the disk clean is
what I did
last before encountering the inability to connect to any websites.

I will follow your instructions and report back tomorrow. The computer is
at home.
Thank you!

Here are the answers to the rest of your questions:

I connect via Comcast cable.
Norton Systemworks - does scan for malware.
Restore did not work.

Any errors you get please include in your next Post and run the
Supperantispyware please!.
