windows upgrade with sp2
Hello

I have windows upgrade with SP1. I purchased a new motherboard last summer.
If I restore windows using Ghost image then it runs really nicely no
problem. If I reload windows then it shows and dies as it needs windows
loaded with SP2 pre installed. I tried over 6 days and it always was the
same.

If I buy windows XP upgrade with SP2 I feel it will work. However I notice
that the full XP with SP2 on Amazon came out a year later then the upgrade
verison. So my question is, does anyone know if the XP upgrade is fully
intergated with SP2, or is the SP2 part merely an addon, in which case I
would be best off buying the full verison which I know is intergated.

Many thanks

Malcolm

You don't have to purchase a second copy of XP. All you need to do is use your
XP SP1 upgrade CD and "slipstream" the SP2 files into its contents. You can then
create a new installation CD that will now include SP2.

Take a look at the following web site for more info on creating a slipstreamed
XP installation CD.

Create a Slip Stream version of Windows XP

Here are some of the files you'll need to obtain in order to follow this
procedure:

Why not slipstream/integrate SP2 into your Windows XP installation media and
create a new installation media of your own?

(Google "slipstream SP2 into Windows XP")...

It's free, it's easy and certainly seems to make more sense than buying
another license for Windows XP for the free service pack...
