computer shutting off during hibernation
My computer is set to hibernate. The last 2 days I've come home to find it
off. It doesn't turn off when I am using it. Any ideas?

From Windows Help and Support:
hibernation
A state in which your computer shuts down after saving everything in
memory on your hard disk. When you bring your computer out of
hibernation, all programs and documents that were open are restored to
your desktop.

Re: computer shutting off during hibernation
Normally when the computer goes into hibernation all i have to do is jog the
mouse and it comes back. Now, without any changes i know of, outside of an
update, I now come back and have to hit the power switch.

Re: computer shutting off during hibernation
I believe you are confusing standby and hibernation. In standby mode, power
remains on and the computer is 'brought to life' via a mouse movement or
keyboard key depression.
In hibernation, power is turned off and the power on key must be used to
bring the computer on.

Re: computer shutting off during hibernation
Yes I was! I guess the real question would be why did the computer start
hibernating instead of staying in standby. But since everything works I guess
it doesn't matter. Thanks for answering my questions.

Re: computer shutting off during hibernation
If hibernation is activated the computer will hibernate xx minutes (you set
it) after going into standby.
