Messenger, Live Messenger and Outlook Express

How can I get the old Messenger off my computer and only have Live
Messenger? Before, I installed Live Messenger and it was a conflict with
Outlook Express. My Outlook Express would get a message like not connected.
Outlook Express will not work right without the old Messenger.

What happens if you uncheck "automatically log on to Windows Messenger under
Tools->Options in OE?
And how is Windows Live?

I'm not sure I agree with this statement. I have OE and had messenger
and removed it. Folder and all. OE still works for me.
Granted I'm not sure what this Live messenger did to your system, but
out of the box, XP SP2, you can remove messenger.
