Open programs/documents not showing in task bar

All of a sudden, programs or documents that are open/running simultaneously
no longer show up at the bottom of my monitor (officially the task bar,
right?). So, if I have 3 Word documents open, none of them show up at the
bottom, so I can't click on anything down there to move between documents;
ditto for switching between open programs/applications. Any advice? Thanks1

What happen when you right click the start Button then select properties.
On the Taskbar and Start Menu click on Taskbar tab, make sure these check
boxes checked:
[ ] Lock the taskbar
[ ] Keep the taskbar on top of other windows
[ ] Group similar taskbar buttons

Click [Apply] then [OK], does it help?

Until this problem is solved, you can use ALT + TAB to switch between
programs.
