dvdrw wont write

i have a pioneer dvd dvr104
and a lite on dvd rw lh20a1p
both only read and not write
i have uninstalled reinstalled updated firmware etci have also uninstalled
ide atp controllers and rebooted
no joy
is this an xp software issue with some files either corrupted or missing
please advise asap

XP by it's self has no ability to write DVD's or play DVD movies. You will
need 3rd party software to do that. If you are talking about cd's, the
software in XP is very basic. It should copy some files to a cd but you
can't use a cd like a drive without some 3rd party packet writing software.
What exactly is it you want to do and is there an error message or code that
comes up when you try.
