SP3 installtion problem
I have installed SP3 on a laptop (XP Pro) and a desktop (XP Home) without a
problem but on another desktop (XP Home) the installation aborts near the
end with the message 'Access Denied'. A google search has suggested a clash
with Ad-Aware (which I've uninstalled) and MSXML4.dll which I've renamed,
This has not helped. Has anyone out there any other suggestions, please?

Re: SP3 installtion problem
I had exactly the same situation. Although I had my BitDefender Antivirus
disabled, I finally decided to uninstall that program completely and then
SP3 installed without incident. I reinstalled BitDefender afterwards and
now all is well.

Re: SP3 installtion problem
I have burned the SP3 upgrade to a CD and tried to install it from Safe
Mode - not recommended. I still get 'Access is denied' at the same stage and
installation aborts.

I now wonder whether a repair install of XP SP2 might solve the problem but
then, is it worth it?!

Had the same 'problem'. Google for 'Access denied' and select the MS site
that deals with the problem. Follow the advice given (a bit tiresome) and
it fixed the issue for me.
