Occasionaly see "Windows cannot access the specified device ..."
Windows XP Pro SP2.

Every once in a while, when I click on a shortcut on my desktop (long
established), I get a popup "Windows cannot access the specified
device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to
access the item."

If I simply click the shortcut again, the program will execute
normally. There's absolutely nothing in the event logs.

I've seen other references to this error, but all that I've looked at
have been of a more serious permanent nature, nothing so transient as
what I'm seeing.

Virus and malware scans show nothing.
