System Restore not Working
I had a similar problem. It turned out that a setting in Norton
Utilities had to be deactivated before System Restore would work.

RE: System Restore not Working
Hello Robert, I too am having problems with system restore on my laptop.
I've tried two different restore points, the last one established just 4 days
ago, but it won't work. I use Panda anti virus. Can you say what setting in
Norton you had to change? Maybe there's a similar situation with Panda.
Thanks

There is a setting under Norton Antivirus entitled "protect my
symantec product" which was causing the problem.

Next time please use the "Reply to" not "New Message" option when you
try to help. It is likely that your intended recipient, whoever they
were, never saw your post.

Re: System Restore not Working
I'm having a similar problem with System Restore. When I try to open system
restore to set a restore point I get a message: "System Restore is not able
to protect your computer. Please restart your computer and then run System
Restore again." When I restart and try again the same happens. I get the
same results in Safe Mode. My system is running WindowsXP Professional
Service Pack 3.
Any insight to this situation will be appreciated.

Re: System Restore not Working
Robbo
That's a new one for me.
The sution could be here:
You Cannot Create a Restore Point with a HighPoint Driver Installed
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=322246&sd=RMVP
Compare the Error Reports in the Event Viewer System log with those in
the Knowledge Base Article to confirm it is the error you have.
You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.
