Windows cant load-missing/corrupt file

Well tismornin i got up and went to the computer and it was on a black
screen that read "Windows has failed to start becuase of a missing or
corrupt file -windows/system32/config/system or something along those
lines and it said to put in the instal disk to repair. So i got the
disk put it in and my computer made the noise it usually does when i
put a disk in but nothing happend. so i restarted and tried again but
it still didnt work. so now i have no clue what to do im on another
computer now but theres no way to do system restore on the computer
because it want load up and now the disk doesnt work so how the heck do
i get in to do anything. so any help here would be really really
aperrciative. also if i do somehow get it back, i was wondering whats
it called when you like swipe your hole hard drive and get rid of
everything then put windows xp back on and thats it to get rid of any
trojans or viruses cuz i think its time to do that. i thought that was
system restore but ive seen that just puts you computer back to a
point. thanks again.

After backing up any data you wish to transfer to the new OS
installation, simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part
of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

HOW TO Install Windows XP

Then the backed up data can be restored and applications re-installed.

Re: Windows cant load-missing/corrupt file

Thanks for the help bruce i had found that earlier but i tried it again
anyway and well the problem comes up that when i type that first line
in the support thing it says "this file cannot be specified" and it
just so happens that thats the one that makes windows not load up. The
rest worked fine and it happend in each of the following paragraphs the
line that ends \system are not there even in the repair folder it cannot
find the \system file. so im starting to wonder if it was some virus or
what not cuz its kinda fishy that everything that had to do with the
\system file is gone even in its repair folder...so im running out of
options of how to get the computer to work. might just have to
reinstall xp.
