Install of WMP11 after SP3
I read someone has done it without any problems on this newsgroup (BigAll)
but I get an error stating the version of my OS is not supported. I have
Windows MCE 2005 (Gatewary 825GM). The upgrade to SP3 was smooth but prior to
upgrade I had recovered my PC from ground up (Full/destructive recovery).
Question: Does WMP11 install work after SP3? Or WMP11 needs to change to be
compatible with XP SP3?
Thanks,
Dara

Windows Media Player 11 can be installed quite happily on Windows XP with
Service Pack 3.

That was probably me. I was trying to search and find the exact order
I did the work. From what I can see the $NTuninstallServicePack$
folder is dated 7:40pm and $NT....wmp11$ is dated 9:00 pm. So it looks
like I did it after the SP3, if that folder is the SP3 folder. There's
nothing close to it other than the KB items.
Add/remove does not help me for times.

But I'm sure I put SP3 in first then applied all updates. If I had
loaded my OEM Cd with SP2 and applied patches, I'd have 100+ and that is
what I was trying to get around was all those $NTuninstall folders.

But you knew this from the previous post, I just thought I'd say hi.
Granted, I have a Dell, not gateway. Not sure what flavor that puts in
the mix?
