keyboard doesn't work
Hi! I have aquired through donation a somewhat oldish
computer with an unknown history running XP and I'm not
able to get a keyboard to work on it.

I *think* it may have something to do with an installation
of Palm Pilot software though that's only a theory on my part.
I've even restored it to prior to the installation of the
Palm Pilot software. I also think that maybe the PS/2 ports
aren't working. It does have a couple of USB ports - either
work fine for a USB mouse.

When I checked the device drivers, the keyboard isn't even
listed, unless I show hidden devices (you'll have to forgive
me as I was working on this a while ago and can't quite
remember exactly the steps I went through) and then I can see
the usual default keyboard driver is there in a grey text.

I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it, tried installing drivers
for different keyboards and tried installing a wireless
keyboard with no success.

If anyone has any suggestions, that would be fantastic...just
keep in mind I'm pretty much of a newbie when it comes to
this kind of computer stuff. If not, thanks for taking the
time to read.

Best,
c_lass

Used computer - best to start learning and format and install the operating
system anew on it.

Have you tried a USB kb? Also try a hardware group where this might be
discussed frequently.
