unable to install Windows updates

I am able to download the updates but cannot install them. I have tried 5 or
6 times with no success. Any suggestions?

Try method 1 if that doesn't work then method 2

Ignore the title of the kb article - Updates are not installed successfully from Windows
Update, from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation
