Why is my browser doing this?
This may be a Firefox problem, as it started soon after I upgraded to the
new version, but maybe someone knows the answer anyway...

Every once in a while, while I am browsing, Firefox will try to open the web
page as a file (and ask me where to save it.) It will continue to do this
for every link I try to open, bookmark I click, and so on. I found that I
can reset it to normal by pressing ALT. But does anyone know why it starts
doing this in the first place?

If you don't get any help here, you can try mozilla.support.firefox
newsgroup.

See the Web-based support forums in your Firefox Bookmarks folder.

And if your NNTP server doesn't carry the mozilla.* newsgroups then you
can configure your NNTP client to connect to news.mozilla.org.
