How do I remove ad.yieldmanager from Window XP Home Edition
For the last few days when I've gone onto Yahoo internet pages my computer
often tries to redirect to http://ad.yieldmanager.com/st%3Fad_type. From
what I've read I understand that ad.yieldmangaer is malware / spyware but
I've had my Norton running all the time, I also have SpyBot SD and Windows
Defender. None of these seem to notice it's there, block the infection or do
anything about removing it. Please can anyone heip. Thanks

should add to your
arsenal.

it will list items that
are considered to be
hijacking your o.s..

Re: How do I remove ad.yieldmanager from Window XP Home Edition
I hope it's this easy:

Close Internet Explorer.

Open the Run box and enter:
notepad %WINDIR%\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS

Select all and delete so you have a clean page, then paste the text between the lines:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Save. Restart IE and test.

Give Malwarebytes a try.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Malwarebytes is as the name says, a Malware Remover!
For the Free version scroll down their page to either download from
Download.com, or Major Geeks.com

Download, install, and update.

Open IE, click Tools, Manage Add-Ons, and disable anything you don't
want. You may have a fictitious search utility that you've never used.
Also run antispyware, or Adaware and see if one of those find the culprit.
