Lost my messages, are they in .PST?

I use Windows XP, SP#3, Windows Live Mail, also Outlook and Outlook Express.

For some totally strange reason I lost my past messages (there were about
200 or so) and I can see the file .pst, when I go to Start, then Search.

But I can not find the same file when I go to Windows Live Mail, or to
Outlook and go to Import, then search for this .pst file.

I even copied the .pst file to te desktop, but still I cannot find it when I
want to import messages and Browse. It just does not see the .pst file.

What is wrong?

You use too many mail programs.
