Have you tries replacing the USB keyboard with a PS/2 keyboard?
Your reference to "Advent" disks suggests that you may have purchased
your computer from PC World, Curry's or Dixons in the UK. (AFAIK,
Advent computers in the UK are sold exclusively by companies in the DSG
Retail group). Many Advent computers are re-badged or special versions
of Medion equipment.
If my suspicion is correct, you may be able to download the correct
keyboard drivers etc., from

An alternative option option is to use a recovery disk. Your Advent
disk is probably a recovery disk, to be used as a last resort to restore
the computer to its original factory condition. You will need to read
the manual, but the use of a recovery disk usually erase all existing
files on your hard drive. If you need to use the recovery disk, you
should back up important data files, etc.
