Hello,
I saw
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=835972 "You cannot transfer files
from a multihomed computer to another Windows Messenger user by using
Windows Messenger 5.0". It says that the problem was corrected in version
5.0.482 . I have version 5.1.0706, and apparently the problem still exists:
I have two network cards, one for external internet, another for the local
subnet. As long as both network connections are enabled, any attempt to
transfer a file to another user hangs and then times out. If I run netstat
at that time at the receiving computer, it shows SYN_SENT to the external
address of the sending computer, which is exactly the problem mentioned by
the article as fixed ("when you try to transfer a file, Windows Messenger
5.0 sends an incorrect IP address to the recipient Messenger client. Instead
of sending the correct IP address, Messenger sends the IP address that is
bound to ... the other installed network adapter.") As soon as I disable
the external connection, the problem disappears. The firewall is disabled.
The only enabled account in Messenger is MS Exchange, and user id is
specified in the form user@server .
Is there anything that can be done?
thanks,
Vadim Rapp
