How to enable sound for every incoming message
I get a sound when the first message is received, but subsequent messages in
the thread are ignored.

Is there a way to get an audible alert every time a new reply comes in (the
way old AOL used to work)?

E.g.:

<Someone is typing a message>

Hey...I have a question for you...
** Play Sound **

What was the name of that restaurant?
** Play Sound** <--- This doesn't happen, and I want it to

Using Live Messenger 2008

Re: How to enable sound for every incoming message
Greetings Kermit,

Unfortunately this isn't possible with just Messenger.

However, if you use Messenger Plus! Live (http://www.msgplus.net) and the following script,
it should do as you wish:

Interesting product.

Why is this not a standard option? Is Microsoft relegating necessary
functions to 3rd party addins?

Re: How to enable sound for every incoming message
Hi,

The vast majority of functionality in Messenger requires third-party tools; everything from a
working messenger history, to tabs, to skins, to a usable/accessible/documented API.
