Error's upon opening.
I am running into an issue that I need some help with. Im wanting to start
using windows movie maker to see what kind of editing i can do with it.
However, everytime I open it I get this message:

"Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience."

and data error report error signature says:

AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.0.3312.0 ModName: qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Offset: 0001b2af

Does anyone know of anyway to fix this? Im up to date on all the updates
according to the microsoft updates page.

======================================
Are you running Windows XP with Service Pack 2?
If you are...have a look at the following article:

Good luck...

What can I do if I upgrade to Windows
XP SP2 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
is not installed successfully?
http://tinyurl.com/65pfo

Also...the following info may be useful:

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

(927177) How to uninstall Internet Explorer 7
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177/en-us

I've also seen a report that disabling the
ffdshow codec could be the fix. To accomplish
this...open Movie Maker and go to...Tools /
Options / Compatibility tab...Uncheck...
ffdshow / OK.

===
(You can disable ffdshow with this command:
regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax"
After running that command, the regular
DivX/XviD codecs will be used instead of ffdshow.
You can enable ffdshow again with this command:
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\ffdshow\ffdshow.ax" )
===

More info:

Movie Maker always has to close
http://tinyurl.com/fw76b

Movie Maker 2 Crashes and Hangs

If you want to install or reinstall Windows XP
SP2 you can download it from the following site:

Download Windows XP SP2
http://tinyurl.com/6ubys

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

==============================

Some URLs are quite long and can be
clipped by certain newsreaders.

I don't read the site...I just use the service
to shorten long URLs.

1) Enter a URL (Copy/Paste)...
2) Press...Enter...
3) Paste (Ctrl+V) the new TinyURL in your message...

Here's an example:

Windows Vista -
Publish a movie in
Windows Movie Maker
http://tinyurl.com/2lo4gp
or...
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...8cdf21033.mspx
