Recording Playback Format

I want to get a JVC Camcorder in the specs it says the Recording Playback
Format
is MPEG-2, will this work with WMM? Thanks

Looked cumbersome it was many paragraphs and such before it even tackled
converting. Is there a series of cameras that is good quality and WONT
require all this conversion? And can I ask if MPEG-2 is the best as touted,
it it has to be converted does it LOSE quality?

I have a DV video camera with Firewire (1394) output. I connect it to the PC and
a dialog opens up giving a choice of actions. I select Import with MovieMaker. The
entire clip is imported directly into MovieMaker.

I usually select DV AVI as the format. This is the best quality; however, each
minute takes up 168MB (or was that 186, I forget), so be prepared to have the
corresponding hard rive space available.

Check your camera documentation to see whether a similar hookup is possible.

Most of the new cams record in a compressed format, with mpeg2 being popular
in standard definition.

If you buy one of these cams, I'd suggest you invest in a programme desinged
for editing such file types, like adobe premiere elements or Ulead
videostudio.

Both will edit and use smart render, which is that they only render the
aprts of the files which have been changed, resulting in you not losing
quality from having to render all of the file. This is also lots quicker.

Both also have 30 day free trials.

thanks for the tip, but for editing (and reformating to AVI) for WMM, which
product would be better. there were OODLES of ULEAD products and even more
Adobe products under the names you gave. Thanks
