How do I add a .srt subtitle file to a movie?
Hi. I am trying to create a project so I can burn a video clip with
subtitles to a dvd. Do I use Movie Maker? If so, then how do I add the .srt
file properly to burn the dvd with the subtitles? I tried to drag and drop
the .srt file into the project, but I receive an error message stating I am
missing a necessary codec. What codec do I need, how do I download and
install and use it?

Many thanks.

Movie Maker can't handle .srt subtitle files... so it's about using other
software rather than finding a codec that works with Movie Maker.

Thanks for your prompt reply, PapaJohn.

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for an appropriate software -
something like "Adds software for idiots" (although even that might be a
little too technical for me. . .).

Many thanks.

I've never worked with .srt files so can't make any personal comments or
suggestions. But a Google search for the subject you used...

How do I add a .srt subtitle file to a movie?

provides almost a million hits to explore
