image quality in final movie is poor, and other q's

I've used WMM to make a video slide show and have used jpeg images that were
high quality. I've saved it as an .avi file on my hard drive and the image
quality is quite poor when I view it on my monitor, and even worse when I
view it on my TV (via CD version). Is there any way to restore the image
quality?

Also, can you please explain how to save the original project in a format so
I can burn it to a DVD that will play on my DVD player? I'm using Nero 8 to
burn the final files.

And can you recommend how to add pan/scan features to the movie images
without going back and recreating the show in Photostory (which I've never
used).

Finally, I also notice that there are "flashes" of light appearing when some
images are shown. Is this an artifact of my computer, or is it a problem
when the movie was compiled? I'd like to remove it.

save the file as a .bup, .vob, or .ifo file? Which option should I select
when saving the movie?

Doesn't the program have a "make DVD" option? Mine does. I don't have
a dvd writer so I can't test the final, but it looks like it should.

When you say "program," do you mean Movie Maker? My version does not have a
DVD option, but I had read in others' posts how to save an .avi version to my
computer and then use a DVD writing program to burn it. That said, it won't
play on my DVD player.

I'm using version 5.1 of Movie Maker. Is yours more recent than that? Any
other ideas?

I'm still pretty stuck.

Actually it says 'Save to DVD'. So that can be understood to be either
way. I would have rather had it say 'Make DVD'.

Robin, I don't know very much about WMM but I have found out what causes
flashes in my videos. If you're using the scroll perspective animation, see
if you can use a different animation for that frame. So far the scroll
perspective is the only animation I've found that does this, and it doesn't
happen in all frames. Sometimes it works f you delete the offending titling
frame then replace it. It might also be possible that moving it slightly
changes it because the only times I've noticed this developing was when I
moved the titling frame. But I really think it's just an occasional glitch in
the scroll perspective animation.

I left the flash alone in one of my videos because it gave a flash that
looked like lightning, and this was a marvelous coincidence. Most of the
time it's just annoying.
