music

I finished editing my video and now all I have to do is add the music. There
is audio that was recorded when I filmed the video, so of course it showed up
on the audio line when I put the clips in the video line. Now I want to put
music to certain parts of this video and when I go drag the music to the
audio/music line it goes where I put it, but when I go to listen to it there
is no sound. I have looked at the audio levels and volume and everything
seems to be ok, I just can't figure this out and it's driving me crazy.
Please someone help!!!!!!

What file type is the audio?
