I never heard of Movie Maker 5.

Movie Maker 2.0 and 2.1 are for Windows XP
and are included in the operating system.

Movie Maker 2.6 and 6.0 are for Vista.

Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista
For Vista users who cannot run the
Vista version of Movie Maker

Wasn't the version 5.x what was included in XP MCE? It would "burn" DVDs
IIRC.

Re:*More* Movie Maker 2.x vs 5.x
FWIW...WinXP MCE Movie Maker 2.1 does include
a set of 14 Pan/Zoom Effects not included in other
WinXP versions.

Monty Halls (Senior) I am having difficulty in downloading moving video from
supported file types (.avi,.wmv, etc) into the time line in MS Movie Maker
2.x. I am not technical and would appreciate a descriptive 'step by step' in
non-technical terms if anyone can please help to resolve this problem. Thanks

Do you have the timeline selected?

I guess you tried drag and drop into the Video track?

> Yes, I did 'drag and drop' - - still photos are no problem and nor are audio clips. I can download moving video clips to both Quicktime and Real player programmes but the same clips will not download to MS Windows Movie Maker (2) in spite of being 'supported file types'. The 'error message' is unhelpful in that it does not specify what I need to do. I have tried the MS Call Centre (in India), but even they were not able to help. This effort is a result of going through to the MS Support Group (UK) who directed me to this site. As Secretary of the Shark and Coral Conservation Trust, I need to download these clips to both MS Windows Movie Maker and MS Powerpoint for presentation purposes (due very soon). Thanks for your trouble in responding. Monty Halls (Senior)
