after reinstall wp pro, i have no sound

i re installed win xp pro,
and volumcontrol panel are working,
but no sound out in the speakers.
tryed to install the realtek ac97 driver,
but my machine crashes every time i try the realtek setup.
installed a vinyl ac97 audio device driver,
that didnt work either..
could it be that realtek wont install cause i have the vinyl ac97
installed.
i will try realtek setup again after uninstall vinyl,
and also i went into devive manager and tryed starting or enabling the
audio service from there,
but it all seemed to be working from there..
hmm
anyone have any clue as to what might be the problem?
please help me.
