Can't map drives on XP or VISTA workstations
I have a small network with 4 XP pro w/s and 2 VISTA Premium w/s. All are
configured identically as to user accounts and permissions. I can see some
shared drives on some of the w/s but I really need to map to the root of
these w/s. When I try to UNC map (\\PCname\c$), it askes for the user name
and then the password but for some reason it does not recognise the password
and keeps asking for the pw.
I did have the network working with 4 win2000 w/s and the 2 Vista w/s but
was forced to upgrade to XP due to software issues under Win2000. I have run
the network wizard on all of the w/s but still get the same problem. Windows
firewall has been disabled on all w/s.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

To enable administrative shares on Vista, follow the steps here:

http://www.jimmah.com/vista/Networking/filtertoken.aspx

To enable administrative shares on XP Pro, disable simple file
sharing.
