Internet keeps on going off
All of a sudden my office internet service keeps going off about every 20
minutes - and it only comes back after I have restarted the modem. The local
area connection is however active and users are able to access any other
resources on the network.

Why is this? Because, I can't play sentinel awaiting the next time it will
go off.
Help me please.

And your ISP said? Since power-cycling your cable/DSL modem and or router
fixes things, something is wrong with:

1) the cable/DSL modem
2) the router
3) other network hardware you may have connected to those devices such as a
switch
4) the Internet connection from your ISP.

Because you state that your LAN (local connection / network) is not effected
I would contact your ISP as it is obviously a Modem or WAN issue.
Or maybe your boss telling you to stop playing games on company systems :0)
