Problems installing a new mouse (Laser Combi)

I have purchased a new mouse - a Laser Combi by Trust.com (don't know
anything about it, so don't even know if it is suitable!). When I plugged it
in nothing happened. I am on Windows XP and usually the Installation Wizard
comes up. Can anybody help please - plus just what is the difference between
an optical mouse and a laser mouse, if anything? Thanks
