Can't see all the XP systems on my network in workgroup

I am trying to setup some networking and I can't see all the XP
systems in the workgroup.
But, the systems that I can't see are in another room. Different
subnet, different switch.

What ports should I verify that are open to allow the system to access
each other ?

Can you ping each other? Do you have a router between two subnets?

Ping: Yes
Routed: not sure, I know that we are switched down to the user level,
but I don't know if it has to pass through one of our routers get to
the other subnet.
Browse: Yes, I can even browse the others shares by, \\MyOtherPC...

No, but I was trying to browse the name of the workgroup and noticed
that it kept asking me for a user ID and PW ? why ? So I tried to
ping the workgroup name and it replied, so I found that machine and
discovered that it was a windows server that was part of the
workgroup, Not a domain.
So I turned the system off and went back to my system and went to
Network Neighborhood. Now I can see all the systems that belong to
that workgroup on my local subnet, but not the other subnets!
Why can't I see the other subnets in NetNeighborHood ?
