Redial attempts >99 possible?

I just set up a VPN connection in win XP (64bit) and want the
connection the be redialed when lost. However, I can only set "redial
attempts" to 99 maximum. I remeber that I used to have a similar
system on winXP but it was possible to let it try redialing for a week
or so (3500x, every 3 min). Did something change with a service-pack?
Is it possible to increase the maximum number of redial attempts (via
the registry or so) ?
