router ok but no web access

I just clean installed Windows XP SP2 yesterday.
Typically after installation I let the windows update I& no problem so far,
after a while I was told to install SP3, I did & as far as I remember no
problem so far.
I was then told to update & install few security fixes & issues which I did
too.
Just after that eacj time I start my system I can't access the web (no
matter IE7, or firefox) though my router is on & connected & network
connection shows connected with correct parameters, I must disable then
enable my network connection to be abloe to access the web (it takes kong
time acquiring address, unlike before).
Actually I feels its a problem with 1 of the last updates, but which 1?
How can I solve this issue?
My system configuration is :
P4 3.0 GHZ, Motherboard Gigabyte 945 (with 10/100/1000 lan integrated), 2GB

This might be a problem with the speed/duplex auto-negotiotion
between your network board and your router.

Bring up the Device Manager (Start->run->devmgmt.msc), find your
Network Adapter, Double-click on it, then select the "Advanced" tab.
One of the Advanced settings should be named something like "Speed
and Duplex". Select it and you will probably find that it is set for
"Auto". Try manually changing this setting to the speed and duplex
of your router (Routers are usually Full-duplex devices). "OK" your
way out and reboot to see if this solves your problem.

Thanks for your response but I'm afraid that didn't help as the problem
still the same.
Sometimes I'm connected & can access the web, but many times I'm connected
but can't access the web till I disable then re enable the connection.
What can I do?

It was worth a try, I guess.

My only other suggestion would be to try to reset your protocol
stack...

Start->Run->cmd
netsh winsock reset.

I'm having the same problem. I haven't been able to access the internet
on my desktop computer, only on my laptop. They're both connected to the
same router. Some of the things I've tried a

Connecting directly to the modem
Changing the cables (using one that is working on the laptop to hook to
the desktop)
Buying a new network card
Running ipconfig (shows a system assigned address)
running ftp127.0.0.1 (shows that the os is using the correct language)
running Winsock

The tech from my isp was at a loss, and referred me back to the
manufacturer...who is Fry's (in otherwords, useless). Any suggestions?

Type IPCONFIG /ALL into a cmd box. (Run...cmd)

Check that the default gateway and DNS server addresses are correct. If not
type:

IPCONFIG /RELEASE

then

IPCONFIG /RENEW

If this does not correct them , try using a manually-set IP address. Gateway
and DNS are normally the router's IP.

Also, this may possibly be the problem:

Make sure that your DHCP client service is running:
Right-Click "My Computer" -> Manage -> Services & Apps ->Services
Make sure "DHCP Client" is "Started" and "Automatic"

Reset your Winsock Stack
Start->Run->Cmd
then: netsh winsock reset

Sometimes "LSPFix" or "WinsockXPFix" will solve stubborn problems:

Thank you for the advice. I tried all these things (IPCONFIG RENEW and
RELEASE) and the link you provided.

I haven't tried manually setting the ip address, not sure how to do
that?

Thank you all for your responses I really appreciate all.
The problem is in the SP3, since I applied it I'm facing this problem, my
router is ok & functioning well, cables OK, DHCP running, IP addresses
correct but for some reason since is app;ication my pc won't get access to
web, only after disabling then re-enabling the network connection (all
connection parameters such as IP, DHCP, etc ... the same) I'm able to access
thge web. I'm afraid I'll have to un-install SP3 as a final resort.
Any suggestions before I resort t o this ?

Yep I have the same problem. And it will not even let me remove sp3 because
it says Bosnian language is not supported. "WTF" I don't need it to be
supported. I don't speak it read it or want it. I just want the SP3 off my
"MF'n" PC. No internet. I wish I could trust the manufacture of the OS not
to"F" up my computer. Or is this a form of censoring the internet. For the
things I been saying about everybody. Yep I'm a little mad.
