Everything in "Network Connections" is missing
XP Pro, home made computer 3 yrs old, ECS K7S5A board, have disks. Norton,
Spy-bot, AVG Free, Ad-Aware. After returning home from a few days gone, I
tried to sign in to internet. I have Comcast.net broadband. I could not. When
this happened before and I solved it by uninstaling my SIS 900 Ethernet
adapter. By the way, there was exclaimation marks on both the SIS adapter and
the the "Packet scheduler miniport 4". Error message-"This devce is not
working propely because Windows cannot load the drivers for this device-[Code
31].
1. The SIS ethernet adapter does not reinstall and the Packet Scheduler
Miniport 4 still has an exclaimation mark on it.
2. No problem, I'll put in my XP disk to maybe repair/update driver but then
I found out that he CD Rom will not read it. I checked device manager and it
says both CD Roms are working correctly. All devices are working correctly
according to device manager. My e: drive CDRom will read my ATI utilities
disk but no other disk at all! My d:will not read anything.
3. Well, somehow in all this, something happened to remove everything in the
Network Connections folder in the control panel!
4. Could I have accedentaly clicked "deny" on Spy-Bot when it came up?
How do I correct these problems. Since I cannot search my XP disk for
drivers or boot to CD, I'm stuck. I do have 6 boot floppies I made. Will
these help?
MSCONFIG start up - Normal Startup-Load all drivers etc. Ran Norton,
Spy-bot, AVG Free, Ad-Aware. No virus.
How do I repair XP Pro? I'm using my laptop to post.
Joe
P.S. Day 3 of quitting smoking. I'm a little stressed right now!!!!!

RE: Everything in "Network Connections" is missing
Tried http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299357. Nework icons still missing.
Original problems still there. nable to install drivers because CDRom won't
see any disks although device manager says all's well.
Day 4 of stop smoking. Even more edgy.

RE: Everything in "Network Connections" is missing
UPDATE:
Can't explain it but they're back. Did nothing more but remove cat 5 modem
cable and found and used the USB cable that came with RCA modem from Comcast.
Icons returned. signed on ok. Then put cat 5 cable back on and signed on
again.
All ok except I still have packet scheduler and SIS 900 miniport adapters
with exclaimation mark.
Seems to work ok so I'll live with the exclaimation marks. Still have 2
cd-rom problem to deal with.
