Network Neighborhood shows unknown name
Hello,

when I check my Network Neighborhood I see the list of shares in my network.
For one computer they say something like <foldername> at <computer name>.
For
another computer the shares are listed like <foldername> at <some unknown
name> (<computer name>).

Can somebody please tell me where <some unknown name> may come from and how
I can get rid of it?

Kind regards,

Frank

If it's really called "Network Neighborhood" you must be running Win 98
(or NT 4.0). What OS is on the computer in question?

Your question would be clearer if you didn't try so hard to obscure
things.

What is the name of the window you're looking at (exactly)?

What are the titles of the icons (exactly)?

Right-click the icon that concerns you, select "Properties" and
copy/paste what appears as the "Target" into your response.

If you mean you see unknown computers showing up when you browse your domain
or workgroup, it means that at one point those computers were connected.
They may not be, now. They'll eventually disappear.

This is a computer's description. In Windows XP: Control Panel -> System ->
[Computer Name] -> Description.
In Windows NT: Control Panel -> Server -> Description.
