loosing connection to the internet after about 20s
Hi,
I have a problem, but I can't solve it by myself (2 hours of spent time
yesterday and no clue what to do).
There is a network instalation: antenna, then some router, maybe some other
box, then cables to flats of all users in the building - in friend's flat is
one switch and there are 3 computers connected to it (2 desktop computers and
a laptop, all with Windows XP installed). About 2 weeks ago all computers has
no error with connection to the internet, then the friend was on vacation,
his notebook was 2 weeks shuted down and now, after return, an error occured:
When pluging the cable in, internet is working well about a few seconds
(about 20s) and then nothing happen (can't browse any www address, connect to
IM, resolve any IP address from it's text format to the number format,...).
Only solution, how to repair it for a while is open Network Connections
window, right click on the network connection and in context menu choose
"Repair". Then it runs again about 20s and again crashes down.
All computers (desktops and notebook) has same settings (all of them get IP
by DHCP and all of them has same settings in network connections dialogs),
notebook has right cable, all slots in switch are without any defect (I
tried to change cables). All programs that can block the connection was
shutted down (Windows firewall, Eset NOD antivirus soft. and some anti
malware soft.) and without any improvement.
In the moment I don't know what to try next so I will appreciate any help.
Best regards
Breta

I have seen some anti-virus / firewall that do not completely shut
down when you turn them off. You need to uninstall them in order to
completely remove there monitoring module.
