VPN Connections
I have established a successful connection to my workplace using a wired
ethernet connection using Windows XP VPN setup wizard. I also have a wireless
network setup using a Linksys router at home. I would like to be able to
connect to my workplace through the VPN through my wireless network if that
is possible and would appreciate
some guidance.

RE: VPN Connections
In principle that should not introduce any special requirements. PPTTP VPN
(the most common kind) requires that protocol 47 and port 1723 be open to
outbound traffic. Unless you have a third-party firewall this should be the
case anyway.

One issue you may meet is that logging-in via the VPN may not be possible if
the wireless adaptor requres a user-mode control applet, since in that case
the wireless connection will not exist until after user-logon. The best
solution here is to ditch the manufacturer's applet and use the Windows
Wireless service.

If you can connect VPN to your office over a wired network, there is
no difference using a wireless connection. As long as you have a
reliable TCP/IP connection over a wired or wireless network, as long
as the destination VPN "end point" permits the access, it will work.
