Sharing self stopped...
Hi,

I'll need aid to help me identify the cause of my problem (is it due to
Symantec Endpoint Protection, Microsoft Access, Windows Networking, or my
hardware).

The situation is:
After recent upgrade to Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP), there is this
symptom of network sharing from my terminal stopping, in the middle of
session.

I had been sharing out Microsoft Access database from my terminals all
along, and things works well on my Win-XP Pro SP3 together with Avast
antivirus (previously), but recently after installation of the SEP, the
network sharing had hang-up in the middle of session of using the database.
This can occur even if there is no self activity on the master terminal
(shared out terminal), but files opening from other terminals. The frequency
of this problem is not frequent, say from installation until now (approximate
1 month), it occured for around 4 instances.

Self troublshooting by disabling and re-enabling the network would not
resume my shared folder sharing; I'll have to restart my computer before the
share folder reappear accessible on other terminals.

Note: the particular active access file does become inaccessible during the
disruption of the network sharing, even on the master terminal.

Last point to highlight, after installation of the SEP, I do notice,
computer operations do have slight or longer launching duration, compared to
previous antivirus software Avast.

Hope to hear some suggested conclusion and solution to my problem. Please
highlight if you need other information.

Re: Sharing self stopped...
Did you uninstall the symantec app to see if the problem goes away?

Re: Sharing self stopped...
Did try that, no experience of sharing stopping. However, when installed
back, out from nowhere, the network stops (meaning I couldn't access to the
res of network as well).

Is this due to SEP or windows or my hardware insufficient resources? I did
checked out the requirement, for SEP, only 256MB RAM and Pentium IV processor
required. So, I do assume my resources should be sufficient.

Hope to hear some direction to resolve the situation...

Re: Sharing self stopped...
Then you need to contact Symantec tech support as it is their application
that is causing the problem.
