Don't bother. You are accessing global usenet newsgroups by the worst method
ever.
use a News reader. You already have one on your machine - outlook Express.

How to set up OE as a News reader:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...64&product=oex
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...oups/setup.asp
http://www.gmayor.com/MSNews.htm

Hello, I assume Microsoft is changing this program.
I did the following; clicked on "profile icon" when profile page appeared I
did not change anything and clicked on "close profile", this returned me to
the news group with my sign in name.
Hope it works for you.
take care.
beamish.

RE: signin button
In the web interface here, all you do to sign is click on "Reply" to a post,
and you go to the sign-in window.

Where/What is the "Profile Icon" or does it apply only if you are not
using or have OE set up as a news reader? TIA

Hello, My post was in reply to "grandad" a Microsoft Web-based Newsreader
user.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...reader.mspx?dg
Working without problem today.
Some people do not care for this reader.
I tend to use several different news readers for different reasons and
appreciate all the newsreaders.
take care.
beamish.

RE: signin button
My sign-in button isn't there either. I just clicked on "new" so I could post
a question, when that screen came up, I closed it off and then I was signed
in. The Sign Out button is there though. Strange.

Re: signin button
You may find it easier to use a proper newsreader for newsgroups
instead of that quirky and slow web interface.
