Windows Explorer / My Computer Problem
I use both tools for managing and working with files on my desktop. Both
tools function properly when displaying the contents of My Documents. Neither
tool will display any contents of My Computer. Both tools apparently hang
while the flashlight display appears on the screen. If a flash drive is
plugged into the usb port the contents will be displayed.

I've tried doing a system restore to a previous checkpoint. The system
processes all the steps but after rebooting it displays a message that the
restore was not performed and I should chooes another reference point.

I've exhausted my imited ability to correct this issue.

Re: Windows Explorer / My Computer Problem
Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System log in Event Viewer relating to the last boot in
normal mode . No Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate
which also appear in a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

What are your anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall? Frequently it is
one these preventing restoration to an earlier time.
