If your Dell computer (desktop) is using IDE - you can have up to 4 devices
in a standard IDE based system. Given your computer only has a CD player -
I would assume it is probably at an age where it would be IDE based (or just
bought with the bare essentials originally.) Usually you have (basic
configuration) one IDE hard disk drive and one IDE Optical Drive (CD/DVD).
You can easily add another optical drive (CD/DVD) to such a configuration.
In any case - you can remove your current driver, find a replacement that
uses the same interface as your current drive and replace it completely.
CD, DVD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL, DVD-RAM or one
drive that does all of the listed plus more.
