auto-run
Usually when I put a CD or DVD in my drive it runs automatically. Sometimes
I have to manually get it going by going into My Computer. Anyways, I am
getting nothing when I put in this CD-ROM from DXG software driver. Then I
try to put in their Video Works6 driver and nothing happens. The first disk
is DXG-521 Arcsoft Media Converter Software driver disk. The second one is
DXG-521 Ver 1.02 Mr. Photo3, the Video Works6 driver disk.
When I put my Diablo Exp 2 disk in the driver it works. Let me try another
disk, hold on, brb. Yeah, the ATI Catalyst driver disk comes up and even on
the second slave drive. Not the master, even. Maybe it's the driver disks
from this company, Seventh Ave? I just tried two more different CD-ROM disks
from other companies and they all work automatically. What is the problem
with these driver disks?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, attilathehun1

RE: auto-run
This is a curse. I just tried both disks on this HP pavilion 503n PC, that's
ancient, and it works, the drive takes it and says how do you want to
install.
This is weird, on my Dell 8300 using Windows XP Pro I'm having problems.
Oh, do you think this has something to do with Security in Internet Options?
Ok, I'll give it another shot on my Dell 8300.
Thanks, attilathehun1

Re: auto-run
You are running XP Pro, right?
Try this.

1) Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC

2) Go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System.

3) Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off /on and modify it.

Re: auto-run
Ok, I got one of the CD-ROM disks to play on auto-run. The second one. It
says to access the data on the Video Works6 to use the Arcsoft Media
Converter Software disk first and then the Video Works6. Well, I got the
second one to run and said hell with it and ran it and downloaded the data
that I needed. Now, I'm trying to get this first disk to auto-run or run at
all. That's the problem, I wouldn't care if I had to manually get the drive
to play this software, as long as it was played.
Ok, I went to the Start-Run-enter GPEDIT.MSC 2 and got to the area where
Autoplay off/on was at. There are 3 options, one is not configured, which is
what it was, and the other 2 are enabled and disabled. Obviously, I don't
want to enable turn off autoplay. That's something I usually want to have
happen, there are some instant times when I wish autoplay wasn't enabled, but
usually I think it's ok to have it autorun.
What should I do, enable, disable or leave it how it is, not configured?
BTW this is great learning this from you, at least someone explains
something in detail the way I'd like it to be explained to someone else.
Someone here has a brain.
Ok, enough of patting ourselves on the back. LOL
Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, attilathehun1

No much more you can try, maybe clean the disk and the CD.
How old are the CD drives?

Re: auto-run
The disks are 6 months old, but brand new, never used from the Seventh Ave
company. I just opened the device, but I ordered and received it 6 months
ago, and put the CD into the drive, but now, like I said, it works. Well, the
second disk works, and the first one isn't needed on anything but Windows 98
OS systems.
So, I guess it's ok, but I really am thankful about the START, RUN, and
GPEDIT.MSC 2. WEll, I thought I was thankful, now I'm trying to put in
GPEDIT.MSC or GPEDIT.MSC and I'm getting an error noise and a search box
saying try again or something to that wtf nature.
Thanks, attilathehun1

Re: auto-run
Ok, sorry your right. I tried it on this PC, a HP pavilion 503n computer
that's running Windows XP Home edition, not Pro. On my Dell 8300, that's
using Windows XP Pro edition, it works. I put in GPEDIT.MSC 2 and it comes
up.
Thanks a bunch for the knowledge.
You know what this would be great for? I was trying to copy a Windows ME
boot disk and it kept on Auto-Running and I couldn't get to the point where I
wanted to copy it to another CD-R. This would be perfect.
Thanks, attilathehun1
