No Sound.

I use WinXP/2 on a laptop. Suddenly I can't get sound to work. I can view
movies from CNN etc. but no sound. The volume icon on the taskbar is shown
with the mute button unchecked and the slider about 1/3 up.

Any ideas what I can do to recover sound?

Sometimes, turning off the laptop and re-starting it might work in
restoring the sound.
