Usually happens because the original source is lost. When the original PP
Viewer was installed from a download, most likely the file was then deleted.
The update is likely failing because it cannot find the source.
Suggest that you uninstall Powerpoint Viewer 2003 (in Control Panel, Add and
Remove) and then install the newer PP Viewer 2007 -

PowerPoint Viewer 2007 lets you view full-featured presentations created in
PowerPoint 97 and later versions. This viewer also supports opening
password-protected Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. You can view and
print presentations, but you cannot edit them in the PowerPoint Viewer 2007.
If on the otherhand you definitely want the 2003 Powerpoint Viewer, you'll
